Tom & Donna Hatton

History of A Colorado Ranch Family
Tom and Donna Hatton are Western Poets/Storytellers/Songwriters and Singers, but they also live the life of the west. Tom comes with a family history steeped in the cowboy/ranching traditions that go back to the early days of cattle ranching in Texas. Tom's great grandfather and grandfather ran 8500 head of cattle with the famous brand 7HL, the 7 and L formed the legs for the H. Before the civil war and for sometime afterward the Hatton family had 6000 acres in Orange County, TX, they also had land in Comanche and Taylor Counties, Taylor being where Abilene is today. In fact they owned two counties. One of the descendants, Joseph M Hatton, Tom's father, moved to Colorado and established the Hatton Land and Cattle Company. Tom has worked the ranches all his life. The legacy continues on into the present day as Tom & Donna, their daughter and their sons work to remain part of that heritage. Raising Black Angus Cattle they have also raised their children in the fine traditions of the west and continue to work as a family on their Colorado Ranches.

                                                                  What They Do
Donna married into the Cowboy life, but became the "Keeper of Memories" for a life she cherishes and doesn't want to see fade away, to be forgotten, a life she has shared for nearly 40 years with Tom. Writing poetry about the people and the history of the west they share the lives of those of the past and the present and the hopes and dreams for the future through the poignant poetry and music they write. Tom who has followed and supported Donna's endeavors has now stepped in and accompanies their show with acoustic guitar, singing and reciting poetry that they perform as a duet. Performing original music mixed with some of the old musical favorites of cowboy life mixed in, they have woven a tapestry of stories in rhyme full of colorful characters you will enjoy getting to know.
